When I first became an entrepreneur, I had no idea how challenging it was going to be. I already had a bachelor's degree in marketing which was helpful. But tying it all together was much more challenging than college textbooks made it seem.

I’ve done and tried just about every single marketing task you can think of. I've done free chair massage events. I've created low ticket offers. I've offered Groupons. I attended various networking groups and posted on social media. I've created yelp and Google ads, and everything else imaginable.

Initially my goal was to just have clients – ANY clients. Over time, however, I wanted to be authentic while turning a profit and not burning myself out.

That’s when I began to work on my digital presence through Google and search engine optimization. I found that I had the highest return on investment and it required the least amount of work. Plus, people were more willing to pay my full rate.

And this “theory” has now proven itself – twice. It worked with my former massage business and my current business, Earth Breath Yoga.

 

Witnessing the power of Google and SEO has been a pivotal part of my journey as an entrepreneur. It’s proven to me that I don’t need to spend countless hours on social media to grow my client base. I don’t need to offer free or highly-discounted services at events. I don't need to offer 75% off on platforms like Groupon, which devalue you and lead to burnout. I can create high-value service offerings and people will pay for them.
